Things to do in Aberdeenshire

Aswanley, near Huntly is an good base to access all the things to do in Aberdeenshire, from the Castle Trail and Whisky Trails, to more active ways of exploring the landscape – on mountain bikes, foot or cross country skis!

Aberdeenshire is matchless in the richness of its castle tradition. A selection of eleven of the world’s most unique castles ranging from the fairy tale magic of Craigievar, to the rugged splendour of Kildrummy Castle ruins, to the country house grandeur of Leith Hall.

Scotland’s Malt Whisky Trail: The only Malt Whisky Trail in the World is set in Speyside – home to more than half of Scotland’s distilleries. The Trail includes the famous Glenfiddich Distillery, just six miles from Aswanley.

There is a diverse range of active things to do in Aberdeenshire, from walks along the famous Speyside Way to more rugged Highland treks, as well as great road cycling and purpose built mountain bike trails,  nordic skiing and horse riding.
