The wedding reception

The fireplace room, in the renovated Victorian steading, is the perfect place for a barn wedding. At one end is the enormous baronial fireplace, at the other a beautiful contemporary oak bar. The furniture can be arranged to suit the size and style of your wedding – so if you want an intimate gathering, sofas and armchairs can surround the fireplace. For a large summer wedding reception, we can open the doors to the river terrace, so you can drink champagne in the sun overlooking the valley.  The venue is yours to decorate as you wish – it looks great in many guises, from a rustic barn wedding to a traditional Highland reception.

The drink

We try to meet any requests and can order special drinks outwith our standard bar list for your wedding reception. Peroni is offered as the draught beer. It is up to you how you would like to fund the bar for your wedding reception – a tab can be kept up to an arranged amount, the full evening can be covered by the hosts or the guests can pay for their drinks.

We have developed a varied and extensive Aswanley wine list. A wedding sample case gives the bride and groom the opportunity to try a selection of the wines – all in the name of research! If you have your heart set on a particular wine that is not on our list, then you are welcome to make your own arrangements. For wines not on our list we charge a corkage fee of £9 per bottle.

The food

We work with a select group of trusted Aberdeenshire and Moray caterers. They can provide menus suitable for a range of budgets, from champagne wedding receptions with nibbles to full wedding lunches and dinners to hog roasts, waited on by friendly Aberdeenshire staff. We have a well equipped catering kitchen in the barn which is included in the cost of the wedding venue hire. This includes cutlery, crockery and glassware for up to 150 people.
